Staff Salute: Kerry McManus
Kerry McManus is an honorably discharged Air Force veteran serving as a weekend supervisor at Joseph House. Learn more about his background and experiences:
When did you join the Joseph House team?
I started at Joseph House as a client in December 2015, and started driving the shuttle and working the front desk after finishing treatment. I became an employee in July 2017.
Why did you choose to work at Joseph House?
I wanted to work here because I wanted to be a part of something that helped me. I was already receiving Social Security Disability (SSDI), so working here part-time was a good fit.
What is your favorite memory so far working at Joseph House?
I have made quite a few friends here and I would say the interaction between us is comical, to say the least. Some of my favorite memories are from conversations in the courtyard with other veterans.
Any additional information you would like to share about your career experiences?
I like to see when the lights come on and clients start to get it. Joseph House saved my life and I want to give something back. It hurts sometimes to see guys make bad choices along the recovery route, but it brings me great joy to see them complete the program and begin a new life. This program works if we can get out of our own way and follow it.
