Staff Salute: Brandon Cooper

Brandon Cooper is a chemical dependency counselor at Joseph House. Learn more about his background and experiences:

What degrees and certifications do you have?
I have a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Xavier University and my Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant certification (CDCA).

When did you join the Joseph House team?
I joined the team in April 2017.

What inspired you to work at a rehabilitation facility as a career?
What interested me was the fact that rehab facilities help people get their lives back on track. I was fortunate to work with adults who have struggled with homelessness, addiction, mental health, employment difficulties and loss while I was in my master’s program and I wanted to continue to help those who served our country.

Why did you choose to work at Joseph House?
I chose Joseph House because it’s a smaller agency that focuses on the quality of services provided to veterans. I like that Joseph House takes a holistic approach to treatment, rather than focusing on just the physical symptoms of the disease.

In your own words, what makes Joseph House successful?
I think that Joseph House offers various treatment options (equitherapy, bronzing, yoga, meditation) that a lot of other agencies aren’t offering.

Any additional information you would like to share about your career experiences?
I have been working with children, adults and families that have struggled with at-risk behaviors, mental health, addiction and loss since I was 18 years old.

How can people get in touch with you and the Joseph House team?
If you’re a veteran or know a veteran struggling with addiction, please contact us at [email protected] or 513-241-2965.
