A Feeling of Independence

“The Joseph House team takes us to a lot of outside events and activities. I really enjoy participating, but being physically impaired makes it quite a challenge at times. I use a mobility scooter to get around, but I can get by with a walker for a limited amount of time. While the staff and other clients have been great about helping me get around at the outings, I felt like it was a burden to them. I’ve been attending equine therapy and the terrain there makes it extremely difficult to get around with my walker. Thanks to Joseph House and some very generous donors, that problem has been resolved. We now have a new 14-passenger van with a lift gate so we can take our electric chairs or scooters with us on outings. This is so beneficial to me and the other physically disabled veterans. Besides the physical benefits of having less pain and more energy, it also gives us a feeling of independence – something that is just as important.” -Mike G., Air Force veteran
