What degrees and certifications do you have?
I have my undergraduate degree in psychology and my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. In addition, I am working on my doctorate in counseling education and supervision. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked in private practice as a mental health trauma professional for three years and inpatient behavioral health services for four years. I completed my residency at the VA of Cincinnati Ft Thomas Domiciliary. I have extensive training in crisis and trauma intervention treatments. I have completed certification courses in DBT and trauma. I have also completed additional training to become a certified service member provider.
When did you start at Joseph House?
I joined the Joseph House team in November 2021.
Describe your role at Joseph House.
My role as a counselor allows me to aid in the recovery journey – whether it be through individual sessions, group sessions or follow through – for veterans who are seeking assistance.
What inspired you to work at a rehabilitation facility as a career?
I hadn’t thought of Joseph House as a rehab facility, but more of an organization that allows me the opportunity to serve those who have served. While chemical dependency is a large part of the reason they are here, it is not the only reason. The men that have served our country have had some increased adversity in their lives and I am hoping to be a part of their recovery both mental, physical and emotional.
What is your favorite part about working with veterans?
Working with veterans is a huge honor for me. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for those who have served and are currently serving. This is a small way in which I can give back to that population and show my appreciation for their sacrifices and losses.
In your opinion, what makes Joseph House successful?
The dedication of the Joseph House team, the community partnerships it has developed and the role of the VA all contribute to the organization’s success. I hope to assist with further development and outreach!
